At the wedding of my sister in law and brother in law they had red, green, blue and brown colored pancakes. From then on, the boys don't like any food with red, green, blue and brown in it. So I've made him this green, blue, yellow and red (details) cake.

The 3 in top is made by my husband and the 1 is made by my daugther. :) This cake is a real present made by the three of us.

It's the first time I've tried out this marble technique and also the first time I've tried to fill a half round cake. Of course it's filled by the overall favorite filling, strawberry jam and strawberry mousse.

On our way to the restaurant we got some nice comments from people passing by. "Wow, nice, someone's 50!!" But my dad, who actually saw me making and decorating this cake, didn't notice I've put the flowers in a 50 shape untill we were at the restaurant.

It's the first time I've used Marsmellow fondant for covering the cake. It really taste very nice, but is also very sweet. The flowers I've made out of marzepin and the cake was filled with strawberry jam and strawberry mousse.

Unfortunately, they look very nice, and they taste also very nice, but they we're much to hard. I might have left them to long in the oven...

Babyshower

The baby on top is inspired by Anne Geddes and is all edible. It's made out of marzepin and I didn't use flowerwire or wooden sticks to hold it together. For the wings I've used candy paper.

I've used strawberry mousse for filling the cake and then covered it with buttercream and marzepin. For decoration, I've made some marzepin flowers and leaves.

While I was working on this cake, my lovely daugther came to help me. Unfortunately she wasn't planning to help me decorate, but to help me cut the cake. So needed to put some more flowers and leaves to cover the hole she made.

No need to tell the whole cake was gone in a second...

Cupcakes or Icecream?

I still had some buttercream left, so I've tried to fill and decorate the cupcakes with it. When it was finished, my lovely and always spontaneous daughter was glad to find so many "Icy-s, Hurray!!!" on the kitchen table.

Cheesecake with figs

I like to make cheesecake, it's a quite easy cake to make and easy to vary the topping. Usually I use blueberries, but this time, I've used 5 large figs and made this flower out of the slices.

I was amused to see that everyone, who claims he or she doesn't like figs, was enjoying my cheesecake with figs.

On the internet there are a lot of other recipes, but I've just gave it my own twist to it.

Ingredients:
- 2 box After Eight chocolate (about 200 gr)
- 1 satchel vanilla sugar
- 400 gr cream
- 1 satchel cream fixer

Preparation:
- Melt the After eight in a pan. (you can leave some tablets After eight behind for decoration.
- Add the cream to the melted chocolate and let it boil briefly.
- Put the chocolate-mint cream in a bowl and let cool well, evt. put a lid on the dish and put it in the refrigerator for the night
- Beat the chocolate-mint cream lightly with a mixer and add the vanilla sugar and cream fixer while beating.

Now your After eight cream is ready for use.

Happy 30th birthday

I've found some recipes for the after eight cream on the internet and it was really very nice. It's the first time I've decorated a whole cake with marzipan. Unfortunately for me, the marzipan got torn at the sides. So I had to improvise a little. (and of course the people we've invited for the party were already arriving)

I think the result was quite good (for the first time)

Actually, this cheesecake is very easy to make. Next time I intend to make a nice pattern out of the berries, this looks a bit messy to me.

Just the day before my mother's birthday I've received the starters package for cake baking and cake decoration with marzepin. We've already ordered a cake for my mother's birthday, so I was statisfied with just making her some lovely roses out of marzepin.

This is the result of the first time I've ever made something out of marzepin.
